So I got home from work last night and did NOT pass go and did NOT go to the bar and did NOT collect $200. Instead, I watched “Whip It” - because the roller derby bug has gotten into my brain and I haven’t talked myself out of it, yet.
(Let’s not even talk about the fact that the last time I was on SKATES was grade school.)
Anyway. So I’m watching “Whip It” and the whole time I’m all, “Awwww, Ellen Page!” and “Awww, Kristin Wiig!” and “Jesus christ can Drew Barrymore play a character who is not a raging hot mess for once?”
And I know she directed the movie, and probably lots of others (I don’t care enough to actually look it up) but GIRL! LOOK AT YOUR ROLE CHOICES! She comes off as some kind of needy handicapped person who is also perpetually drunk in more roles than not and that makes me dislike her entirely, despite the fact that I’m sure she’s very sweet IRL.
